Grandma Taylor's Apple Cake

This is one of Hope's family recipes that she has converted to Gluten Free so she can continue to enjoy her favorite traditions.

1/2 cup of applesauce
1 1/2 cups of vegetable oil
2 cups sugar
3 cups delicious apples 
1 cup pecans (optional)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda
3 cups Bob's Red Mill gluten free flour

Icing Ingredients:
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/3 cup cream (Or coconut sweetened condensed milk for non-dairy)
2 cups powdered sugar

Mix all ingredients. 
Pour in greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes
Let cool before adding icing. 

Icing Directions:
Mix in everything but powdered sugar in a pan.
Bring to a boil for 2 minutes.
Let cool for 10 minutes.
Beat in powdered sugar. Pour over cooled cake.
