HONEY

Our raw, unprocessed honey is a rich source of sweetness, great taste, and nutrition. Honey is 35% protein, containing half of all the essential amino acids. In its raw form, honey retains its rich vitamin and mineral content. High in B-complex vitamins, honey promotes energy, and contains substantial amounts of vitamins C, D, and E as well.

Our honey comes from a local beekeeper. When bees collect the pollen of local flowers, their honey may help desensitize the immune system to these pollens. Thus, local honey can help fight common seasonal allergies.

One characteristic of raw honey is that, over time, it tends to crystallize. This is a natural process and is a sign of quality honey. To return honey to its liquid form, simply loosen the lid on the jar of honey and place the jar in a pan of warm water. Within just a few minutes the crystals will return to liquid.

Honey should never be given to infants under one year of age, as it can contain spores that cause botulism in the delicate digestive tracts of very young babies. There is no danger to adults, and honey is considered safe for children over one year of age.

Available in bulk and in one- and two-pound jars.
